The Pelicans power forward is on top of the oddsmakers list for most improved player in 2020.
Ever since Brandon Ingram was traded from the Lakers to the pelicans his stats have skyrocketed. Ingram went from averaging around 15 points as a member of the Lakers during the first three years of his career to a robust 24 points per game, which is 13th highest in the NBA. His assists, rebounds, and steals also saw a jump in his first season with the Pelicans. All things considered it should come as no surprise to see Ingram listed as the odds-on-favorite to win the NBA Most Improved Player award in 2020. Ingram’s current odds to win the award is set at +150, double the amount of the second favorite (Bam Adebayo +300).
Sports Illustrated’s gambling analyst Corey Parson highlights why gamblers bet on Ingram.

Kaitlin O'Toole: Sports Illustrated is taking a look at the NBA's most improved player odds. These are the guys that have had a significant uptick in performance and more than likely will continue to. Joining me now is SI's Fantasy and gambling analyst Corey Parson. Corey, the sports books posted opening odds back in October and Brandon Ingram was the longest shot on the board then. Let's talk about the improvements that he's made and where he stands now.
Corey Parson: Well, you know what, Kaitlin? I wish I was able to jump on Brandon Ingram in back then because I did not see what was coming. So right now, Bam Adebayo of the Miami Heat is the favorite to win the NBA the most improved player. But you know what? Right now, Brandon Ingram is going from +3000 to +260. And I actually like that +260. He's had a career season that career numbers across the board. His points per game went up six points from 18 to 24. He is shooting the three at 38%. You see how good his game is now as that three pointer. He can play in the post. He's silky smooth in the lane. I think Brandon Ingram should be this year's most improved playwe. Listen, a lot of us tune in to New Orleans Pelicans basketball to watch Zion Williamson's explosive dunks. But instead we're walking away, you know, feeling pretty good about the silky smooth game with Brandon Ingram. So I like my +260 to win the the NBA's most improved player award.
Kaitlin O'Toole: That's a huge jump. Corey, thanks so much for your insight on this. Appreciate it.
